Hi guys,
Well, as Mauz already mentioned, the 9-hour enduro was called off at slightly over the 4-hour mark, or at 12:10pm by my speedo.
Pity, cause so far i was on track with my targeted lap timings.. 50 mins per lap on average, inclusive of 2 pitstops. No signs of cramping too.
Only hiccup was that i kinda over-ate on my second pitstop... It's a "eat before you feel hungry" thingie, but i got carried away & then of course, i gulped down plenty of water too, so the body doesn't draw water away for digestion. Knew it was trouble when i got back on my bike & felt sooo bloated... then when i tried to lean into the first climb, my tummy wouldn't let me! Sheesh..
Worried that it might develop into stitches, i eased off abit on the pace.. Luckily it all went away by the time i reached the second climbing set, the 'moonscape'.
Then somewhere into my 5th lap, it started raining heavily, with thunder & lightning too... freaky stuff when you're exposed on the hills & you realise the ride under you is made of metal!
Funny thing was, just before that the sun was absolutely scorching.. i had to spray my forearms & head with water from my bottle to keep from frying on the hills.
Saw CNC bro Saiful checking out the race action with his arm still wrapped (rememba the spectacular crash? hehe) ... sorry i couldn't do more than bump fists with u bro, hope you enjoyed the sights..! :D
Tinker Juarez was simply inspirational to race with, superduper fast ...yet surprisingly polite on the overtakes.. I was riding along on my first or second lap when i heard a tentative "hello.." from behind.. looked over my shoulder & thought, "oh shit, its Tinker!!" ... promptly veered to the left, then off he went in a flash..
Of course, he lapped me three more times, but it was either on the gravel flats or the forest trails, where he passed me skillfully before i even realised it.. Saw the green jersey & dreadlocks from behind, then i realise, "hmm, that was Tinker... aGaiN" LoL
Managed to get his autograph on my raceplate & another card from the kind folks at Cannondale... i'm having them framed up to hang over my 'bike-corner' ... Yey!
Well that's about it folks.. Seeya soon, ride safe!
Cheers guys,
Bunny
:D
