Spur of moment ride: 16th Aug

on the 16th of aug, CnCSg had one of those sudden (sms:"Oi! i'm bored, wanna go riding later tonite? set!)-type of rides at East Coast Park. Astro rolled up from Orchard, Juice from Lavender, and my bro Iz and myself from Tampines.

after fuelin up on burgers, fries n coke, and fixin on a bullet light with the help of namecards, we "transformed and rolled out" into the night-breezy cycling tracks of East Coast. destination: the runways of changi airport.

with our speed ard 10 - 15kmh (as measured by Juice's onboard analog speedo), we had plenty time to chit the chat. Astro's plannin a bike build later this year, poor guy is keeps gettin idea after idea after idea and after idea on what to incorporate in his new ride. whatever it is, expect it to be wild and outta this world when it comes rollin out hopefully feb '08.

we reached the runways, parked n dismounted to light up n watch the planes rumble past overhead. talk turned to bikes and girls, to rides and sights, and everything else. on our way back we met a bunch of nice riders on voodoo mtbs and a giant roadie who were curious about and appreciative of our phat-tyred rides. nice to meet u folks! :)

our end route was like this: pitstop at vendin machine and Bedok Jetty (where more stories about ghosts, 7th month n all, n a particular "power!" person, plus discussions on how to improve the club), down ECP to Fort Road where we parted ways, with Astro rollin towards Nicoll Highway and the rest towards Katong. at Katong, Juice bade us goodnite and Iz n I headed back to Tampines.

"Down by the River" Ride 05 Aug 2007

Technically, this ride started off with some pre-ride garage pimping, modification and meself getting a new ride on the previous day. Yeps you heard it right, a new ride. We shall come to that later, afterall, it ain't my personal blog whahaha.

So as I was saying, we started off on Saturday nite around 8pm to collect my new bike and head on down to our dear Juice the wonder mechanic's place. Spend the next 8 - 9 hours tearing down and pimping up my bike. Here's a preview of one without any mods. Its a 24" Schwinn Stingray, in a classic champagne green.

We were joined with a new buddy, also by the name of Wan with his LA Big Mo chopper (we have decided to name Rasusfaith the Old Wan, opps!). Together with Mouse, Blasta and Juice, we pimp and prep our rides for the next day amidst some 100 plus, mineral water and green tea.

The next day, we started our set off to the Padang with a hearty breakfast of pratas, half-boiled eggs, toast, coffee and tea. After that, we were ready to roll out!

Heading down to Esplanade via the Marina Promenade park from Kallang, we reached the Padang and took a breather from the slightly scorching heat. Had a briefing on the routes to take and the various pit stops before we moved out again. We headed down to the end of Boat Quay and started to follow the paths along the Singapore River, catching various sights and views of our national heritage.

The path led us through Clarke Quay, past Hotel Miramar and got us to Kim Seng Plaza, opposite Great World City. Crossing to the other side, still following the river, we finally arrived at our first pit stop of the day: Zion Road Food Centre. Time to refuel on the liquids! Oh the cool sensation of sugarcane juice running down your throat and permeating every cell of your body... Shioks!

Heading off from there, we round back to Zouk and stop for a couple of pictures.

Then its off heading back down the river on the other side, passing Clarke Quay again, Boat Quay, with many heads turning and admiring our rides.

Next Stop: Merlion. We could hear the sounds of bands doing sound check for the BayBeats event at the Esplanade booming across the river. Naturally, at the location of the biggest puker, the tallest ferris wheel and the largest durians in the world, who won't want to take a pic? (Just joking!).

Heading on from there, we decided to head down via Shenton Way to Marina South to catch the kite-flyers and perhaps make a round or two in the park. It was an ardous journey there though and the end result was a bunch of burnt out riders sipping drinks by the kopitiam. The park, unfortunately, was undergoing construction so that slightly dampened the mood a bit.

That's pit stop number 2. Following that, we head on down back to the town area to seek an air-conditioned haven with nice music and hopefully babes. Arriving at Pool Fusion I along Beach Road, we were partially stumped by how to park our bikes with one lock. Thanks to Juice, now you can!

Break time to cool down and have a few games of pool, while Blasta decides to take some time out to rest before heading to work later in the evening.

With stomachs growling, it was the sign to keep moving. Heading off to extract some cash off the walls at Shaw Towers, we headed for this food place opposite Bugis Junction, where they serve a whopping Ayam Penyet ("smashed chicken" in Malay). Needless to say, everyone had an extra serving of rice and kick-ass chili.

With our stomachs satisfied to the brim, its time for some wind to chill out. So where else but our favourite Marina Promenade again for some star gazing, scenery and cool wind in the hair. After a long day's ride, its time to bid our farewells as we head off our own ways.

Total distance travelled: Approximately 85km (yikes, no wonder my ass hurts).
